12 Tags of Christmas Week #4

I have finally completed my Week #4 Challenge Tag for the 12 Tags of Christmas hosted by Linda Coughlin of The Funkie Junkie.

I am still far behind, she is already on Week #7!! Luckily you do not have to enter these in any order as long as you have them all completed by December 17th 2012.

For this challenge Linda went with a more "Country" Theme. (She is just so very talented.)  Here is a picture of her Inspirational Tag

I am almost too embarrassed to show you mine...but since this is something I chose to stick with I just hope you guys take it easy on me :-)

This is  my Tag
Mine turned out a little more Victorian Country with all the lace I added but I think that was ok.

For the background I found a free Red and White Checkered pattern that I just printed out on regular printer paper. I then used Tim Holtz "Brushed Corduroy" Distress Ink to tone the red down for a more country look.

You can purchase the "Brushed Corduroy" Distress Ink in Linda's Boutique
I then used an old Christmas Card and cut out the Red and Green Wreath. I bordered the wreath with pretty lace.  This I think is what gives it that "Victorian" feel.

I cut the phrase "Christmas Greeting" from something I must have saved a while back. I apologize for not knowing whom to give credit.

I don't have a cutter, so I had to use my Xacto blade to cut it from the collage it was on. It is slightly crooked but oh well, part of the charm I guess....lol.
I found a pine cone from my yard and sprayed painted a clear gloss lacquer to help keep the color fresh and so it doesn't crumble later on.

The green leaves and berries are part of an old wreath accessory I used as a little filler to give my tag a little more "Umph"!!!
I wrapped the top of the pine cone with burlap string so it did not look so naked...haha.
I also used the burlap string along with a red button to border the top of the "Seasons Greeting" phrase hoping it would look a little straighter.  It didn't but I liked it anyway so I left it.

You can also see I used burlap string to make a shoestring bow on the top right corner of the lace as well as the top.
It has been and continues to be a challenge for me to come up with something with very limited materials. I think I am hanging in there pretty well though.  (Not to toot my own horn...lol)

Hope you guys like it. Would love your feedback.  Thank you so much for dropping by.

Until Next Time, Happy Sales

Seems so strange to have a white Christmas where we live in Australia - it is always in Summer!
I love the look of your shabby altered book on the sidebar. Is there a post with more pages to view?
Wishing you all the best in your Christmas tag creations.

  8. Tracy I think your tag looks fantastic, you should not feel bad about it at all and I really, really mean that. I love how you have added the lace and given it that Victorian look and the addition of the pine cone and berries makes it look really Christmassy, totally love it!
